The Secret: An Introduction
Jan. 2nd, 2008 08:34 amFor Christmas this year, I bought myself a daily inspirational desk calendar called The Secret. It's based on the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
Now, I haven't read the book but I did poke around the website a little. It seems to be very spiritually based, probably Christian, but I haven't found any actual mention of Jesus or God though. I have the feeling they were purposefully left unnamed in order to give the book a wider audience.
Basically it appears to me that the book deals with positive thinking and the basic precept that what you perceive and believe to be true, often is true. Personally, I absolutely believe that. You've heard the expression "Perception is reality"? Well, it's true. What we perceive, either about ourselves or others, shapes our beliefs which in turn defines our reality.
This book, as well as many others, seeks to take that "power" of belief and use it for personal benefit--whether financial, emotional, or spiritual. Live deliberately. Begin each day as if it were on purpose.
The reason I mention all this is to warn you, gentle reader, of what's coming. I will try to post every day (usually the message of the previous day) from the calendar. All the posts will be clearly titled "The Secret" and tagged the same way. Feel free to skip them but I really hope you will join me in this journey to make this year even better than the last.
Namaste.
