So the big news yesterday was that Yahoo is shutting down the social bookmarking website Del.icio.us. This news is based off a leaked internal document regarding plans for sundowning several of Yahoo’s products. Unfortunately the news is true. However, no date has been announced as to when the service will be shut down.

I was a late comer to social bookmarking and even now I don’t really use it socially. I started using Delicious about 2 years ago when my harddrive crashed and (naturally) I didn’t have a good back up so I lost all my bookmarks. I figured this new fangled thing called social bookmarking would keep that from happening again.

Recently I ordered a set of  bluetooth headphones from Amazon and I started thinking about what I listen to while exercising. For me the answer is easy.

When I first started bringing an iPod with me to the gym, I was listening to playlists that I created in iTunes. They were mostly classical rock songs with some newer stuff. Basically anything I owned that had a good driving beat. Unfortunately I’m not a big music person so I’ve never owned a lot of music, but I had enough to make it work. Then I discovered podcasts.

No, I’m not trolling for dates online, nor am I performing a music video although Felicia Day’s video was the inspiration for the post title.

No, this post is about Gravatars.  What is a gravatar, you ask?  It’s a picture that represents you that is stored on the gravatar.com server.  It’s associated with whatever email address you sign up with so that when you post a comment to a gravatar enabled website or blog, like this one, your picture automatically shows up. Make sense?

Spring RSSAfter a recent conversation with TheWife, I decided that my first post (well, technically my second post) should be about RSS. I admit, I was a little intimidated by the whole concept at first but once I read up on it a little I started to realize just how cool RSS could be.

From WikipediaRSS (most commonly expanded as “Really Simple Syndication”) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format.
