macdobhran: Whoop Ass (Home Improvement)
So, it's been awhile since my last post. Work has been very busy since my promotion. I'm right in the middle of a long learning curve. I'm enjoying it but it's definitely a shift in perspective.

I've also been busy with the Never-Ending Honey-Do List (of DOOOM!). I finally managed to get a small work bench for the garage so my workshop is starting to take shape. The first thing I did once it was set up was pull out my miter saw and make a small stand for a vase we bought at MDRF last year. I just need to paint it tonight so it can go on the ledge above the front door this weekend.

Speaking of painting, we finally settled on colors for the diningroom and livingroom. I took a sick (*cough*) day on Tuesday of this week in order to paint the first color (a warm Lyndhurst Gothic Tan) in the livingroom. It came out pretty good if I do say so. Last night I taped off the areas for the second color (a traditional Navy blue) and I'll fling that color up tonight. While I'm at it, I've been rearranging some furniture. Although our livingroom is so small there aren't too many different ways to arrange it.

The diningroom is the one I'm really excited about. It's going to be a deep purple on the bottom of the walls and a creamy white (with the slightest touch of grey) on the upper half of the walls. I'll also finally be using all those corks to create a custom chair rail.

We've already tentively decided on what to do in the kitchen, entryway and downstairs bathroom. Those things as well as the diningroom will have to wait for a bit due to time and money constraints though.

So yeah, fresh paint! Can you feel the excitement?!
