On this day in 1902, the United States Senate dissolved into a barroom brawl as two senators from South Carolina engaged in a fistfight. Senator John McLaurin gave Senator Benjamin Tillman a bloddy nose after Tillman accused him of bias on the issue of Philippine tariffs.
