Where did my weekend go??

Saturday I got up at 6:30am in order to go into the office and upgrade some servers. That went fine and I upgraded 7 servers in about 5 hours. Then I went by Chik-Fil-A and grabbed some lunch which I ate in the parking lot while reading a book for about an hour. Next it was off to meet TheWife for a movie–The A-Team. (As a side note, I saw the trailer for Danny Trejo’s new movie, Machete. It looks pretty good, in that Robert Rodriguez/Grindhouse kind of way.)

After the movie we had plans to meet up with friends for dinner. The restaurant that we were planning on going to had a long waiting list. Since none of us were really that hungry at the time, we decided to hang out at their place for a little while and then go to a different restaurant. We all had a good time chatting and catching up, plus it’s always nice to see them and their two girls. I ended up not getting home until about 10:30pm.

So why the title of this post? Our friends live in a townhome/apartment complex so parking is limited. Granted it was pretty hot that day but I only had to walk about 50 yards to their place from where I parked. And I just about melted. I am so out of shape that it took me over an hour to cool down.

I’ve known that I was gaining weight but I’ve finally admitted outloud, as opposed to in my head, that I’ve gained back all the weight I lost 4 years ago. *sigh* I’ve been eating out too much and making excuses for having chips/candy/soda in the house, which of course means that I’ll consume them. Plus I quit doing the Power90 program that I was so jazzed about a couple months ago and I haven’t been to the gym in so long there are cobwebs in my gym bag.

So this morning TheWife and I got up and dragged ourselves into work so we could both hit our respective gyms. (She has a gym in her office and mine is across the street from my office)  I worked out for about 45 minutes using the elliptical trainer and some weight machines. Not a terribly long workout but I tend to move as quickly as possible between machines without resting. I also, unfortunately, verified that my weight has indeed crept back up.

So iFail. I failed myself by allowing my weight to creep up and my overall activity to go down. I also failed you, my 6 loyal readers, by not posting more often as I promised. Now before you offer words of support, please understand that while failing isn’t pleasant, I don’t consider it to be necessarily all bad. Yes, I failed–this time. But now I have the opportunity to begin again and get it right. History is filled with failed actions. People rarely get something correct the first or even fifth time they try it. And some of us it take even longer.

What about you, cowgirl? Are you still ridin' the Treadmill Trail or have you stopped off at Jed's Dance Hall for an extended game of canasta and shot of rotgut??

Did you are what I did there? THAT JUST HAPPENED!
