I'm jonseing. I'm actually sitting here vibrating with anticipation. "Why", you ask? Well, it's because tomorrow's weather looks like it'll be warm enough to ride Reaver (the Harley) into work! Wheeeeeee!

Now some of you may be saying (looking pointedly at [livejournal.com profile] sweetpea86), "Why don't you ride to work when the temperatures are lower, ya big pussy?"

I could, I very well could. But it's not as enjoyable. I've ridden in cold weather plenty of times. It's really not as much fun when it takes two hours for your body tempature to come back up to normal after a ride. I guess you could say I'm lazy because it's a lot easier to jump in my heated truck than to don layers and layers of clothing when the temps are below 55.

Tomorrow morning's temps, and that's really the time of day to go by because while it may hit a high of 60 during the day if it's only 38 degrees at 6:00 AM it's the suckage, should be around 50.

Sunday looks to be the best day of the week so far. Partly cloudy, 70's, no real chance of rain... Uh-uh-UH-ARRRrrr!

Excuse me, I think I actually started drooling over here.

Anyway, that's my Happy Thought for the week. What are yours?

You said pussy.

And hey--I've been on the back of a bike during a cold ride, and you know what?

IT'S FRICKIN' COLD.

So, you may think you know how my brain works, you presumptious MAN, but you SO do NOT.

And that's why I'm going to die alone, with my body slowly being eaten by my dozens of cats just like that lady on that CSI episode.

Hold me?

Easy, Slugger.

I would hold you but I just got these pants back from the dry cleaner and I don't want them covered in cat hair.

Nut?

Yeah, the guy in the front may APPEAR to act as a windscreen, but my very last ride was cancelled halfway to breakfast on account of Faithcicle.

My happy motorcycle thought is that the Porsche is going back this month, we have bike-loving friends with a pick-up truck who will help us transport the Harley someplace where it can be given some love, and soon I will be scooter trash again!

Aww, come on.

Don't you want a bunny suit that plugs into your bike?

As long as there was no ice on the roads, My boss and I would commute in on his Harley. Going in for 4 pm was no big deal, but coming home at midnight was a little tough sometimes. It was also beautiful.

I've been thinking much the same thing. Salt seems to be washed off the roads. Temps are getting up into a good range. Sunday is looking Awful good for getting the bike out.

There's no need to apologize for not riding if you're not comfortable. I'll ride down into the mid/low 40's, but then I've got a full-sized windshield on S.A.R.A. and the whole fairing deal on Sofia, so I'm a little more protected. I also change when I get to work, so if I bundle for the ride, I can un-bundle when I get there.

My most hard-core was the first year I was assigned to the bikes at work. We got them in October, and I was the first one assigned to them, so I wanted to be out there at every opportunity. We were blessed that winter with very little precipitation, so I had dry roads for most of the season. I think the coldest I rode in was the low 20's, and that was with two layers of thermals, electric vest and gloves, neoprene socks, and a Thinsulate-lined leather coat. I looked - and felt - like Robocop, but damn was I ever hardcore! LOL That pretty much got me over the ride-at-all-costs mentality. Now, if it ain't fun (and safe), I ain't riding in it.

Hope you enjoy the impending warmness. I expect I'll be out there myself this weekend. Be safe.
