Find your Happy Thought
Mar. 9th, 2006 10:09 amI'm jonseing. I'm actually sitting here vibrating with anticipation. "Why", you ask? Well, it's because tomorrow's weather looks like it'll be warm enough to ride Reaver (the Harley) into work! Wheeeeeee!
Now some of you may be saying (looking pointedly at
sweetpea86), "Why don't you ride to work when the temperatures are lower, ya big pussy?"
I could, I very well could. But it's not as enjoyable. I've ridden in cold weather plenty of times. It's really not as much fun when it takes two hours for your body tempature to come back up to normal after a ride. I guess you could say I'm lazy because it's a lot easier to jump in my heated truck than to don layers and layers of clothing when the temps are below 55.
Tomorrow morning's temps, and that's really the time of day to go by because while it may hit a high of 60 during the day if it's only 38 degrees at 6:00 AM it's the suckage, should be around 50.
Sunday looks to be the best day of the week so far. Partly cloudy, 70's, no real chance of rain... Uh-uh-UH-ARRRrrr!
Excuse me, I think I actually started drooling over here.
Anyway, that's my Happy Thought for the week. What are yours?

Date: 2006-03-11 12:06 am (UTC)My most hard-core was the first year I was assigned to the bikes at work. We got them in October, and I was the first one assigned to them, so I wanted to be out there at every opportunity. We were blessed that winter with very little precipitation, so I had dry roads for most of the season. I think the coldest I rode in was the low 20's, and that was with two layers of thermals, electric vest and gloves, neoprene socks, and a Thinsulate-lined leather coat. I looked - and felt - like Robocop, but damn was I ever hardcore! LOL That pretty much got me over the ride-at-all-costs mentality. Now, if it ain't fun (and safe), I ain't riding in it.
Hope you enjoy the impending warmness. I expect I'll be out there myself this weekend. Be safe.
